Mature Preneurs Talk with Diana Todd-Banks

Nov 19, 2018

Catherine had a successful career in mental health, but found her soul wasn't satisfied which is why at 50, she decided to "come out of the closet" about her spiritual journey. Why? Up to then if a person expressed interest in yoga or meditation of any form you were viewed as being suspect. Now of course it’s mainstream, but back then, not so. Hitting the half-century, Catherine ditched her corporate career, put up a website, and opened her own counselling practice incorporating psychotherapy and mindfulness, and while it wasn’t for everyone, it spoke to enough people that she made a good income. Out of that experience she wrote her first book, Shortcuts to Mindfulness: 100 Ways to Personal and Spiritual Growth.

What happened next for Catherine is a classic example of listening to what you want to achieve in your mature life, then actioning your next steps and seeing where that leads. Often people don’t have a choice of consciously leaving their work or business, they’re put out to pasture because of their age. If that happens think positively as there’s a new beginning just around the corner, which is what Catherine experienced when she turned 60. Since she creater her dream career, her next goal was to find her dream partner. After a long trial-and-error in the dating world, she met the love of her life, and much to her surprise, people started coming to her for dating coaching, and so a new specialisation was born. Out of that Catherine’s second book was borne: Tantric Dating: Bringing Love and Awareness to the Dating Process, sharing what she learned and in talks, workshops and YouTube videos.
