Mature Preneurs Talk with Diana Todd-Banks

Jan 30, 2018

Despite her seemingly lack of talent, Luanne Hunt was born with a dream to be a singer.  Growing up, she was ridiculed by her family when they heard her sing around the house, and, when she tried out for her elementary school choir, the director wouldn’t even let her in.

But Luanne knew, music would play a very important role in her life. Her passion was ingrained!

Now, decades later Luanne has had the last laugh, as she is a three-time American Song Writing Awards winner.  Throughout this podcast Luanne has many wise words to convey so do listen right to the end.

Along with landing on the 2009 Grammy ballot in two categories, her songs have topped numerous Indie country music charts around the world.  In 2015, she was inducted into South Africa’s Independent Superstars Hall of Fame.

No matter what her setbacks Luanne stayed focused. Her greatest achievement is her hit holiday tune, “Christmas Without You,” originally commissioned by the legendary Patsy Cline who loved it, but the label wanted the lyrics changed and the song didn’t do well.

Almost 50 years later, Luanne was asked if she would like to record the song in its original form and this was released on Luanne’s 2008 holiday CD, “How Christmas Feels to Me,” recognised in the Top 25 Christmas Songs of All-Time, even up to last Christmas. The video Luanne Hunt made for it has nearly 300,000 YouTube views and thousands of shares on social media sites.

Now in her mid fifties Luanne says the majority of her success has happened over the last 10 years, but without that early ‘knowing’, her continued tenacity, focus and listening to her heart Luanne would not be where she is today. Do listen to this podcast to the end for her profound words and how you can reach her via the website in her name and on Facebook Luanne Hunter Indie Country Music Star.
